CCN Pro Renewal

All CCN Pros must annually pay a renewal fee to maintain active certification status as set forth by the CCN Pro Board.  The renewal notices are mailed in early November in the renewal year and the fee is due by December 31st.

Inactive Status
CCN Pros who fail to renew their certification are placed on inactive status. All inactive status CCN Pros longer than 5 years are required to re-test. Inactive status results in no further mailings and demands compliance with the policy that you cannot represent yourself as a CCN Pro nor advertise your status in any way.

Rejection, Suspension and Revocation of Certification
CANGC reserves the right to reject an applicant for certification and to either revoke or suspend certification for individuals who do not follow the rules and procedures of the program.  Some samples are listed below as to why this may happen:

  • Falsification of employment verification
  • Cheating on the qualifying examination
  • Engaging in any conduct CANGC considers to be detrimental to the association or to its members
  • Breach of any provision of the "Contract for Acceptance as a California Certified Nursery Professional"

If the Certification Board revokes an individual's certification for any reason, CANGC reserves the right to bar that individual permanently from re-certification.

  • Continuing to represent oneself as a CCN Pro when on suspended inactive status

Appeal in the Event of Rejection, Suspension or Revocation of Certification
In the event CANGC rejects an applicant for certification, or suspends or revokes a CCN Pro's certification, CANGC will notify that individual of the reason(s) for the action taken.

The affected individual may submit a written request for reconsideration, including any evidence the individual wishes CANGC to consider, within 10 days after receiving notice from CANGC.

The California Certified Nursery Professional Board of CANGC will discuss the request at its next regularly-scheduled meeting, and will notify the individual of its decision within 10 days thereafter. The Board's decision is final.
